How it works
Your script is issued at your consultation
At a chronic review, your doctor issues the repeat prescription. Tell reception you would like it delivered to the practice rather than collected from a pharmacy.
The script goes to Medipost
We send it directly. Medipost registers you on their system, checks it against your medical aid, and confirms the chronic authorisation with your scheme where one is needed.
Medipost dispenses and couriers
They deliver nationwide, usually within 2 to 3 working days. Your medication comes to NeoHealth rather than to your home, so nothing is left with a neighbour or missed at a gate.
You collect from reception
Come in during consulting hours and collect. No appointment, no queue at a pharmacy counter, and nothing extra to pay for the collection itself.
Repeats run on a cycle
Once you are set up, the cycle repeats without a fresh instruction each month, until your script runs out and needs a review.
Who it suits
- You are on long-term medication for blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, asthma, HIV, thyroid or mental health
- You work hours that make a pharmacy queue difficult
- You travel between George and elsewhere in the Garden Route
- You would rather not have medication left at a gate or with a neighbour
- You are already coming in for chronic reviews anyway
What it is not for
- Anything urgent. A courier cycle is not a same-day service, so if you have run out, tell reception and get a bridging supply from a local pharmacy.
- Acute medication. Antibiotics, pain relief, asthma rescue therapy and antihistamines are dispensed in the room at your consultation, under the doctors' own Section 22C(1)(a) licences.
- Schedule 5 and 6 medicines with collection restrictions, which follow their own rules regardless of courier.

Is this the same as getting medicine from the doctor?
No, and the difference matters. Dr Chellan and Dr Lakay each hold a Section 22C(1)(a) dispensing licence, so short-course acute medicine is dispensed in the room at your consultation. We do not hold chronic supplies at the practice, so chronic medication comes either from a pharmacy of your choice or by courier through Medipost.
Can I use my own pharmacy instead?
Yes, and many patients do. Your chronic script can go directly to a pharmacy of your choice, which is how most medical schemes prefer it. Medipost is an option, not a requirement.
What if I have run out of my medication?
Tell reception. A courier cycle will not solve a same-day problem, so the right answer is usually a short bridging supply from a local pharmacy while the cycle catches up.
