Discovery Vitality Health Check in George

NeoHealth is an accredited Discovery Vitality Wellness Network provider in George, Western Cape. Drs Chellan and Lakay Inc is on the Vitality Wellness Network, and both Dr Ethan Chellan and Dr Claudia Lakay are individually accredited as Premier Plus Network GPs and Premier Plus HIV Network GPs. Members of Discovery Health Medical Scheme can complete their annual Vitality Health Check at NeoHealth as part of their regular primary care, with the five health measures used by Discovery Vitality covered in a single in-practice visit.

What the Vitality Health Check is

The Vitality Health Check is an annual preventive screening used by Discovery Vitality to assess important health risk markers. It helps members understand their current health status, identify risks early, and unlock eligible Vitality points based on completing the check and, where applicable, achieving results in healthy range.

This is not a full medical consultation or a substitute for clinical care. If your results are outside the healthy range, you may need a follow-up consultation with a doctor for interpretation, diagnosis, treatment, or ongoing management. What's included

The Vitality Health Check includes five measures used by Discovery to assess key health risks.

Blood pressure

Systolic and diastolic reading taken in-practice using a calibrated cuff.

Blood glucose

Finger-prick glucose reading recorded as part of the check.

Cholesterol

Finger-prick total cholesterol reading recorded as part of the check.

Weight assessment

Weight, height, and waist circumference measured and recorded.

Smoking status declaration

Current smoking status declared and recorded.

At NeoHealth, your screening is done in a professional general practice setting with appropriate clinical follow-up available if any result needs further attention.

How Personal Health Pathways fits in

Discovery Personal Health Pathways is a separate Discovery Health programme for qualifying adult Discovery Health Medical Scheme members. It gives eligible members personalised health and exercise actions, tracks progress digitally, and may reward completed actions or challenges with Discovery Miles, other rewards, or contributions to a Personal Health Fund.

NeoHealth is a Premier Plus Network practice. As your GP, we can support members completing Discovery health actions that involve primary care, screening, and ongoing management where clinically appropriate. Personal Health Pathways itself is managed by Discovery directly through your member profile.

Cost and medical aid cover

Discovery's Vitality Health Check has a standard fee published on Discovery's own website. For members of most medical schemes administered by Discovery Health, one Vitality Health Check per year is generally covered from the Screening and Prevention Benefit and usually does not reduce day-to-day benefits. Scheme rules, waiting periods, and benefit availability still apply.

Discovery also states that members can earn Vitality points for the assessment, including points for completing the Health Check and additional points based on results in range.
