About NeoHealth
NeoHealth is a modern GP practice and family doctor clinic situated in Prince Vintcent Square, George. Founded by Dr Ethan Chellan and Dr Claudia Lakay, we deliver evidence-based care that evolves with you and your family.
Our Story
NeoHealth opened in February 2025 because we believed George deserved something different, a GP practice where you see a doctor who is trained to manage the full picture, not just the presenting complaint.
We are Dr Ethan Chellan and Dr Claudia Lakay, both Stellenbosch University medical graduates who built our clinical foundations in the rural Eastern Cape, where you learn to be resourceful, think broadly, and manage complex cases from start to finish. We went on to work across tertiary hospitals and established general practices in East London before choosing the Garden Route deliberately: to build a practice that combines the breadth of rural medicine with the depth of postgraduate training, in a community we're proud to call home.
You'll find us at Suite 12, Prince Vintcent Medical Square on York Street in George Central. The entrance is on Gloucester Avenue, in the same centre as Ampath Laboratories and behind Dis-Chem Pharmacy. Whether you live in George, the surrounding towns, or anywhere on the Garden Route, we're here to be your family doctors for the long run. See inside the practice: reception, consultation rooms, IV therapy room, and exterior.
As general practitioners, we do what GPs have always done: manage acute illness, chronic disease, preventive health, mental health, and everything in between. What sets NeoHealth apart is the additional training behind the front desk. Between us we hold CMSA diplomas, FPD certifications, IV therapy and point-of-care ultrasound accreditations, basic surgical skills certification, and dispensing licences, giving us the clinical scope to offer services that most patients would otherwise need multiple referrals to access. We dispense medication on-site, perform minor procedures and pap smears, administer IV vitamin therapy, and offer HPCSA-compliant telemedicine for patients anywhere in South Africa. We also provide occupational health services for local employers across the Garden Route, and telehealth consultations for follow-ups, script renewals, and reviews when an in-person visit is not necessary.
We are your first point of contact, your ongoing partner in health, and (when needed) the doctors who know exactly when and where to refer. That's what general practice should be.

How we work
Practical detail on booking, consultations, telehealth, medical aid, and after-hours.
Booking. Most patients book online; reception is available by phone for patients who prefer to speak to someone. There is no separate registration step. From your first consultation, you are a patient at the practice and can book directly going forward.
Consultations. Standard consultations run 30 minutes. We do not double-book slots, which means we run on time and you have the time you need with the doctor.
Telehealth. We offer HPCSA-compliant telehealth video consultations for follow-ups, prescription renewals, results discussions, and any consultation where physical examination is not required. Booked the same way as in-person consultations.
Medical aid. We bill most major schemes directly; reception confirms scheme acceptance at booking. For schemes we do not bill directly, you settle the account at the practice and submit to your scheme yourself.
After-hours. For genuine emergencies outside our hours, the appropriate care setting is Mediclinic George Emergency Centre, not the practice. For non-emergency after-hours queries, leave a message with reception or use the booking system; we respond on the next working day.
