Nursing Clinic in George

Nurse-led primary health care at NeoHealth, Gloucester Avenue, George. A SANC-registered Professional Nurse with a postgraduate qualification in primary health care and a dispensing licence, and a doctor in the building.

Nurse-led care, with a doctor in the building

Our nurse runs her own service. For most visits, an immunisation, a wound or ear check or a health screen, you see her, not a doctor, and you can pay cash. Because NeoHealth is a GP practice, a doctor is also in the building, so if your visit does need a GP, you are seen on the spot rather than sent elsewhere.

What our nurse offers

Nurse-led services, each with a doctor in the building if your visit needs one.

Vaccinations and immunisations

Childhood and adult immunisations on the South African EPI schedule, plus flu and travel vaccines, given by the nurse. She manages the cold chain and your vaccination record, with a doctor in the building if there is any concern or reaction.

Vaccinations and the schedule

Baby and child clinic

Growth, weight, feeding and developmental checks for your baby and young child, with a nurse who has time to answer your questions. If something needs a doctor, you are seen the same visit, not booked for another day.

Child Health

Wound, ear and minor procedures

Wound dressings and reviews, plus ear care like wax removal, by a nurse trained in minor procedures. A doctor is in the building if a wound needs suturing or a problem needs review, so you are not sent elsewhere.

Minor procedures and wound care

Health checks and chronic medication

On-site health checks: blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, urine and peak flow, done by the nurse, with a doctor in the building if a result needs review. She can also help you set up your repeat chronic medication for delivery through Medipost.

Chronic medication and health checks

Injections, consultations and family planning

Injections, including vitamin B12, contraceptive and other doctor-prescribed injections, given by the nurse, plus general nurse consultations and family planning. See her on her own, with a doctor in the building if you need one. We see self-paying patients; fees are on our fees page.

Family planning and women's health

IV vitamin therapy and wellness

IV vitamin drips and wellness support, prescribed after a doctor screening and administered by the nurse, who is Basic Life Support (BLS) certified, with a GP on site throughout. A self-paying wellness service; fees are on our fees page.

IV vitamin therapy

Confidential HIV and STI testing

Confidential HIV and STI testing is available with our nurse, who is certified in HIV management, with a doctor on site. For these services, please call the practice on 044 868 0707 or see our confidential HIV care page.

Why nurse-led care here

A doctor in the building: two GPs on site, Dr Ethan Chellan and Dr Claudia Lakay, both MBChB (Stellenbosch University), if your visit needs one.

Frequently asked questions

Do I see a nurse or a doctor?

You see our nurse. She runs her own service and handles immunisations, wound and ear care, health checks and family planning herself, and you can pay cash. A doctor is in the building if your visit needs one, so you are not sent elsewhere.

Is there really a doctor on site when I see the nurse?

Yes. NeoHealth is a GP practice with two doctors, Dr Ethan Chellan and Dr Claudia Lakay. Our nurse runs her own service, and a GP is in the building during nursing hours if your visit needs one.

Can the nurse give my baby's vaccinations?

Yes. Our nurse gives childhood immunisations on the South African EPI schedule, keeps the cold chain correct and updates your child's record. A doctor is in the building if your baby is unwell or you have a concern.

How do I get my repeat chronic medication?

Your repeat chronic medication is dispensed by a pharmacy of your choice or delivered through our Medipost partnership; we do not hold chronic supplies in the rooms. Our nurse can help you set up Medipost delivery and keep your repeats on track, and you still see a doctor for your scheduled reviews.

Is nurse-led care safe?

Yes. Our nurse is a SANC-registered Professional Nurse with a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Health Care, certified in HIV management, and Basic Life Support certified, with a dispensing licence from the National Department of Health. That qualification is what allows her to assess, treat and dispense within her scope; she is trained to manage an emergency; and a GP is in the building if anything is needed.

What does a nursing visit cost?

Nursing fees are listed on our fees page, and we see self-paying patients. We confirm your fee before any treatment, so there are no surprises.

When do nursing services start?

Our nurse-led services launch in August 2026. You can register your interest now and we will let you know the moment bookings open.

Where are you and how do I book?
