AECI Medical Aid Society GP in George, Billed Directly at Reception

NeoHealth (Drs Chellan & Lakay Inc, practice number 1221566) sees AECI members at our George Central practice. AECI Medical Aid Society is a restricted scheme for AECI employees and their families, administered through MEDSCHEME.

We accept members of the schemes MEDSCHEME administers and claim from the scheme at reception, rather than asking you to pay up front and claim back. Day-to-day benefit rules differ by option, so we verify your card before the consultation and tell you what you will pay before you are seen.

How billing works at NeoHealth

Bring your membership card and your ID to every visit so reception can verify your option before you are seen.
We claim from the scheme at reception, in real time, at scheme rates.
Any co-payment your option defines is quoted to you before the consultation, not afterwards.
Acute medication dispensed in-rooms where your option allows; chronic medication is collected from a pharmacy of your choice or delivered through Medipost.
For a specialist referral, we call the Medscheme Call Centre on 0861 112 666 for your authorisation number before your specialist visit; without it, the scheme will not pay the claim.
For hospital admissions and major medical procedures we arrange pre-authorisation via aeci.authorisations@medscheme.co.za or 086 000 2103, except in a genuine emergency.

Comprehensive Select	GP consultations unlimited with a Network Provider GP. Using a non-network GP gives no benefit at all, so network status matters more on this option than any other.
Value	GP consultations unlimited with a Network Provider GP. Non-network GP visits are capped at 3 per family and R1,145 per event, paid from the day-to-day benefit.

AECI questions, answered

Do you accept AECI?

Yes. We are a Network Provider GP practice for AECI members, so consultations are covered in full when you see us. Bring your membership card and your ID.

Will I have to pay up front?

In most cases no. We claim from the scheme in real time. Where your option defines a co-payment, we tell you the amount before the consultation.

Does my option change what is covered?

Yes, materially. On Comprehensive Select in particular, a non-network GP gets no benefit at all, while a network GP like NeoHealth is unlimited. Comprehensive and Value also reward network use, with different fallback amounts if you see a non-network GP.

Do I need a referral to see a specialist?

Where your option requires one, yes. We contact the Medscheme Call Centre on 0861 112 666 before your specialist visit to get your authorisation number. Without it, AECI will not pay the specialist claim, so book the referral through us rather than going directly.

What chronic conditions does AECI cover?

27 chronic conditions are guaranteed as Prescribed Minimum Benefits on every AECI option. Comprehensive and Comprehensive Select members qualify for a wider range of non-PMB chronic conditions too. To register, we call AECI on 0860 002 103, or your condition can be checked via aecicmm@medscheme.co.za.

Do you dispense medicine?

For short-course acute treatment, yes. Dr Chellan and Dr Lakay each hold a Section 22C(1)(a) dispensing licence from the National Department of Health. Chronic medication is collected from a pharmacy of your choice or delivered through Medipost.

Can I be seen on a Saturday?

Yes. We consult 09:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and 09:00 to 13:00 on Saturdays, and we accept walk-in patients during consulting hours.

Is my scheme administered by MEDSCHEME?

Yes. AECI is one of the MEDSCHEME-administered schemes we accept, alongside Fedhealth, GEMS, Medshield and POLMED. If your card or member portal references MEDSCHEME, this page applies to you.
