Do you accept Sizwe Hosmed?

Yes. We see Sizwe Hosmed members at our George Central practice and bill the scheme directly at reception. Bring your membership card and your ID.

Will I have to pay up front?

In most cases no. We claim from the scheme in real time. Where your option defines a co-payment, we tell you the amount before the consultation.

Does my option change what is covered?

Do you dispense medicine?

For short-course acute treatment, yes. Dr Chellan and Dr Lakay each hold a Section 22C(1)(a) dispensing licence from the National Department of Health. Chronic medication is collected from a pharmacy of your choice or delivered through Medipost.

Can I be seen on a Saturday?

Yes. We consult 09:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and 09:00 to 13:00 on Saturdays, and we accept walk-in patients during consulting hours.

Do I have to nominate one specific GP?

No. Sizwe Hosmed operates a network rule rather than a nomination: on Essential Copper you may use any GP inside the DSP network, and visits are unlimited. Confirm our network status for your option on 0860 100 871 before your first visit.

What does going outside the network cost me?

Voluntary use of a non-DSP GP or specialist attracts a 30% co-payment. The word that matters is voluntary: the co-payment targets choosing to go out of network, not an emergency.

Do I need a referral to see a specialist?

Yes, on Essential Copper a GP referral is required. We arrange referral letters in-rooms so the pathway stays clean.
