The Massmart Health Plan is the closed medical scheme for employees of the Massmart group, which means many of the people who keep George's Game, Builders Warehouse and Massmart-store floors running, and their families, carry your card.

The scheme is administered by Universal Healthcare, so your claims, benefits and the Universal.one app all run on Universal's systems. We bill the scheme directly at reception, in real time. What's the difference between Massmart Health Plan and truCARE?

The Health Plan is the registered medical scheme (hospital and day-to-day benefits per option). truCARE and the other tru products are workplace health plans with defined primary-care benefits. We accept both; the funding rules differ, so we verify your card at reception before billing.

Do I pay upfront?

No. We claim from the scheme directly. Co-payments apply only where your option defines them, and we quote them before the consultation.

Can you dispense my medication?

Where your option allows, yes. We dispense acute medication in-rooms and route chronic medication per your option's medicine rules.

Do I need a referral for a specialist?

Most options require a GP referral for specialist claims. We write the referral letter at your consultation and arrange any pre-authorisation the option needs.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Your membership card (or the Universal.one app), your ID, and your current medication list.
