KeyHealth GP in George, Billed Directly at Reception

NeoHealth (Drs Chellan & Lakay Inc, practice number 1221566) sees KeyHealth members at our George Central practice, one of more than 40 South African schemes we accept. KeyHealth is an open scheme.

We claim from the scheme at reception rather than asking you to pay up front and claim back. Day-to-day cover differs meaningfully by option, from the entry-level option's PMB-only GP cover to richer options with rand-based day-to-day allocations, so we verify your card before the consultation and tell you what you will pay before you are seen.

How billing works at NeoHealth

  1. Bring your membership card and your ID to every visit so reception can verify your option before you are seen.
  2. We claim from the scheme at reception, in real time, at scheme rates.
  3. Any co-payment your option defines is quoted to you before the consultation, not afterwards.
  4. Acute medication dispensed in-rooms where your option allows; chronic medication is collected from a pharmacy of your choice or delivered through Medipost.
  5. Referral letters and pre-authorisations for specialists and procedures arranged in-rooms.
  6. Chronic Disease List medicine is unlimited on every option once you're registered on the Chronic Disease Risk Programme; HIV/AIDS chronic medication is managed through KeyHealth's partner, LifeSense.

KeyHealth questions, answered

Do you accept KeyHealth?

Yes. We see KeyHealth members at our George Central practice and bill the scheme directly at reception. Bring your membership card and your ID.

Will I have to pay up front?

In most cases no. We claim from the scheme in real time. Where your option defines a co-payment, we tell you the amount before the consultation.

Does my option change what is covered?

Yes, meaningfully. The entry-level option covers routine GP visits at PMB level of care only, while other options fund day-to-day GP cover from a rand allocation. Four of the six options also add cover for acne and ADHD in beneficiaries up to age 21, plus rhinitis and major depression for everyone. Reception verifies your card before the visit.

How do I register a chronic condition?

Registration on the Chronic Disease Risk Programme is compulsory to access unlimited Chronic Disease List medicine. We handle this for you. HIV/AIDS chronic medication is managed through KeyHealth's partner, LifeSense, rather than the general chronic programme.

Do you support weight management?

We can refer you into KeyHealth's Weight Loss Programme once your Health Assessment shows a BMI of 30 or higher: 3 dietician consultations plus 1 biokineticist consultation to start, with more if you show progress. Pre-authorisation is required, we arrange it.

Do you dispense medicine?

For short-course acute treatment, yes. Dr Chellan and Dr Lakay each hold a Section 22C(1)(a) dispensing licence from the National Department of Health. Chronic medication is collected from a pharmacy of your choice or delivered through Medipost.

Can I be seen on a Saturday?

Yes. We consult 09:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and 09:00 to 13:00 on Saturdays, and we accept walk-in patients during consulting hours.
