This applies to every Discovery plan, not only KeyCare and FlexiCare: you must nominate a Primary Care network GP to be covered in full for GP consultations and to have chronic conditions managed. KeyCare Start Regional: George is a designated regional area, regional members use KeyCare Online Practice plus their nominated regional GP.

How billing works at NeoHealth

  1. Bring your Discovery card (or the app) and ID, we confirm plan, network status and benefits at reception.
  2. We claim from Discovery in real time; co-payments only where your plan defines them, quoted before the consultation.
  3. Dispensing practice: where plan rules allow, acute medication is issued in-rooms.

Honest rule: tests are paid from the Screening and Prevention Benefit (day-to-day benefits untouched); consultations bill per your plan's day-to-day rules. We confirm costs before billing. Diabetes Care, Cardio Care, HIV Care, Mental Health Care, Depression Risk Management and the Disease Prevention Programme, condition-specific programmes with defined baskets of care, coaching and, on many plans, improved GP-visit cover.

NeoHealth is contracted on both the Premier Plus GP Network and the Premier Plus HIV GP Network, both Dr Chellan and Dr Lakay are accredited Premier Plus practitioners. Enrolment includes a longer annual review consultation, scheme-funded access to allied health (dietitian, biokineticist, psychotherapy or social-worker referrals depending on the programme), Personal Health Pathways integration, and ongoing coordinated care.

Enrolment happens through your GP via HealthID during a normal consultation, no separate forms, no waiting period.

Smart plan extras worth knowing

Smart plan rules to know: seeing a non-nominated or non-network GP adds a 20% co-payment on top of the fixed amount, nominate Drs Chellan & Lakay (PN 1221566) in the Discovery app or on 0860 99 8877 to avoid it. Nominated members also get one out-of-area visit per year covered.

Video consultations with your Smart Network GP are covered in full up to the Discovery Health Rate, our telehealth service qualifies.

Classic Smart: Smart-GP-prescribed acute medicine up to R1,970/member (R3,300/family); OTC medicine up to R905/family; contraceptive medicine up to R2,600 per female (R2,200 Essential Smart Saver). One network eye test and one defined dental check-up per person per year (fixed co-payments).

Is NeoHealth a Discovery network GP?

Yes. Drs Chellan & Lakay Inc (PN 1221566) is a contracted Discovery network practice with Premier Plus GP status. Confirm in the Discovery app under Find a Healthcare Provider, search Drs Chellan & Lakay or practice number 1221566.

What does Premier Plus mean for me as a patient?

Premier Plus is Discovery's contracted-GP network tier. For members on plans with network-GP benefits, consultations at a Premier Plus GP are covered at network rates per plan rules, and it enables full-cover chronic consultations for nominated patients.

Do I pay upfront?

No. We claim from Discovery in real time. You pay only plan-defined co-payments (for example R75/R130 on Smart plans) or amounts your plan doesn't cover, confirmed with you before billing.

I'm on a Smart plan, what do GP visits cost me?

R75 per visit on Classic Smart, R130 on Essential, Essential Dynamic and Active Smart, unlimited visits at Smart-network GPs. Video consultations with your Smart Network GP are covered in full up to the Discovery Health Rate.

I'm on KeyCare, can I see you?

Yes, once you've nominated Drs Chellan & Lakay (PN 1221566) as your KeyCare GP in the Discovery app or on 0860 99 88 77. Nominations aren't backdated, so nominate before your first visit.

Does Discovery pay for HIV testing and treatment?

Yes, HIV blood tests (Rapid, ELISA, Western blot) are covered unlimited from the Screening and Prevention Benefit. The HIV Care Programme provides structured ongoing cover, enrolment happens in our rooms. Dr Chellan holds a Diploma in HIV Management (CMSA).

Is the pap smear covered, and how often?

One pap smear every 3 years, or one HPV DNA test every 5 years, your choice, paid from the Screening and Prevention Benefit (high-risk members: annual). You can also collect an HPV self-sampling kit from us. Note: the test is funded from the benefit; the consultation bills to your day-to-day benefits per your plan.

Does Discovery cover prostate screening?

Yes, one PSA test per year from the Screening and Prevention Benefit. Sample taken in our rooms, analysed by the lab.

I'm over 65, what screening can I do at NeoHealth?

Your annual Senior Health Check, hearing, vision and falls-risk screening, can be done at a Premier Plus GP, which we are. Flu and pneumococcal vaccines are also covered for members 65+.

Are screening visits really free?

The screening tests themselves are paid from the Screening and Prevention Benefit and don't reduce your day-to-day benefits. The consultation is billed per your plan's day-to-day rules. We confirm exact costs before billing.

How do I register a chronic condition?

Book a consultation. We confirm the diagnosis, apply to the Chronic Illness Benefit on your behalf, and explain your approved medicine list. Use a DSP pharmacy for chronic medicine to avoid the 20% co-payment.

Do you do Vitality Health Checks?

What should I bring to my first visit?

Your Discovery membership card (physical or in the app), your ID, current medication list, and, if you've nominated us, the nomination confirmation.
