CAMAF GP in George, Nominated Network GP Practice

NeoHealth (Drs Chellan & Lakay Inc, practice number 1221566) sees CAMAF members at our George Central practice, one of more than 40 South African schemes we accept. CAMAF is a restricted scheme.

On CAMAF's Network options, nominating a GP genuinely matters: your chronic medication claims will not be paid if you use a doctor other than your nominated network GP. We claim from the scheme at reception, and tell you what you will pay before you are seen.

How billing works at NeoHealth

  1. Bring your membership card and your ID to every visit so reception can verify your option before you are seen.
  2. We claim from the scheme at reception, in real time, at scheme rates.
  3. Any co-payment your option defines is quoted to you before the consultation, not afterwards.
  4. Acute medication dispensed in-rooms where your option allows; chronic medication is collected from a pharmacy of your choice or delivered through Medipost.
  5. On Network options, a specialist referral is only paid at the benefit rate when it comes from your nominated network GP and is less than 12 months old, we date and track this for you.
  6. Every adult beneficiary, on every option, gets one fully funded annual GP wellness consultation through the CAMAF Preventive Wellness Programme, separate from your day-to-day limit.

Nominate NeoHealth as your CAMAF GP

  1. Confirm whether your option is a Network option, if so nomination is compulsory, not optional.
  2. Nominate NeoHealth as your Network GP via the CAMAF member portal or call centre.
  3. An alternate network GP is only used when your nominated GP is genuinely unavailable.

CAMAF questions, answered

Do you accept CAMAF?

Yes. We see CAMAF members at our George Central practice and bill the scheme directly at reception. Bring your membership card and your ID.

Do I need to nominate a GP?

Only on the Network options (Alliance Network, Double Network, Essential Network, Network Choice). Nominate NeoHealth and your GP visits and chronic medication both claim correctly. On a Network option without nomination, chronic medication claims will not be paid, so this matters more than the visit co-payment itself.

What if I'm on a Vital option?

Vital Plus and Vital Network are hospital-only options with no day-to-day GP benefit. We still see you as a self-paying patient for day-to-day visits; hospital care is what CAMAF covers on these options.

Does my option change what is covered?

Yes, significantly. Network options require nomination for chronic cover to pay out at all, Plus options have no nomination requirement, and Vital options have no day-to-day GP benefit whatsoever. Reception verifies your specific option before you are seen.

Is there a funded annual check-up?

Yes. Every adult CAMAF member, on every option, gets one fully paid GP consultation a year through the CAMAF Preventive Wellness Programme, separate from your day-to-day benefit. Ask us to book it under this benefit.

Do you dispense medicine?

For short-course acute treatment, yes. Dr Chellan and Dr Lakay each hold a Section 22C(1)(a) dispensing licence from the National Department of Health. Chronic medication is collected from a pharmacy of your choice or delivered through Medipost.

Can I be seen on a Saturday?

Yes. We consult 09:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and 09:00 to 13:00 on Saturdays, and we accept walk-in patients during consulting hours.
