Affinity Health GP in George, Registered Network Provider

NeoHealth (Drs Chellan & Lakay Inc, practice number 1221566) is a registered Affinity Health network provider in George Central. Affinity Health is primary health insurance, underwritten by Affinity Life Limited, not a medical aid: it pays defined day-to-day benefits per policy, and it has one rule above all others. We know that rule cold, and we'll help you work it so your claims pay the first time.

An honest note up front: Affinity runs on pre-authorisation more strictly than any other funder we work with. Learn the golden rule below, it takes two minutes and protects your wallet.

How billing works at NeoHealth

  1. The golden rule: every consultation, including a follow-up within 7 days, requires its own pre-authorisation number. Previous authorisations do not carry over. Without a number, the claim is rejected outright.
  2. How to authorise: call 0861 11 00 33 (after hours option 2: 0861 106 080) or email auth@affinityhealth.co.za. Non-urgent approvals typically arrive within 48 hours, plan routine visits a day or two ahead. Bring the number; reception verifies it before you see the doctor.
  3. Medication: Affinity funds acute medication only through its own network, medication dispensed in our rooms is NOT funded on Affinity policies. We script instead; you collect at an Affinity network pharmacy.
  4. Specialist visits require a referral letter from us, written at your consultation. Chronic medication runs through the Affinity chronic process: we motivate and register qualifying conditions.

What your policy does NOT cover, we'd rather tell you now

Any consultation without a valid authorisation number is rejected outright and bills to you. Follow-ups within 7 days need a fresh number. Medication dispensed in-rooms isn't funded, scripts go to Affinity network pharmacies.

Arrive without a number and we'll help you request one from our rooms, but the consultation can't bill to your policy until it's issued. If it's urgent and you choose to proceed, the visit bills privately and we quote you first.

Affinity Health questions, answered

Is Affinity Health a medical aid?

No, it's primary health insurance underwritten by Affinity Life Limited, paying defined day-to-day benefits per policy. Many members pair it with a hospital plan.

Do I really need authorisation for every single visit?

Yes, every consultation needs its own authorisation number, including a follow-up within 7 days. No number, no payment. Call 0861 11 00 33 before you book (after hours: option 2, 0861 106 080).

How long does authorisation take?

Non-urgent approvals typically come through by SMS or email within 48 hours. Urgent cases can be phoned through. We recommend authorising two days before routine visits.

Can you dispense my medication?

Not on Affinity, in-rooms dispensed medication isn't funded on these policies. We script instead, and you collect at an Affinity network pharmacy per your policy.

I'm a security officer on NBCPSS, do the same rules apply?

Yes, NBCPSS, NBCRFLI Wellness Fund and MIBCO Sector 5 plans are administered by Affinity with the same pre-authorisation rules. Authorise every visit and bring the number.

Do I need a referral for a specialist?

Yes, specialist claims require a referral letter from your GP. We write it during your consultation.

What happens if I arrive without an authorisation number?

We'll help you request one from our rooms, but the consultation can't bill to your policy until the number is issued, if it's urgent and you choose to proceed, the visit bills privately and we quote you first.

What do I bring to my first visit?

Your policy number, your ID, and your authorisation number for the day. We'll handle the rest.
