LA Health questions, answered
Do you bill LA Health directly?
Yes, we claim from LA Health in real time via Discovery Health's systems. Bring your membership card and ID.
What is HealthID consent and why do you ask for it?
HealthID is Discovery's secure health-record platform used for LA Health and other Discovery-administered schemes. With your consent we can confirm your benefits instantly, enrol you in screening and care programmes digitally, and coordinate your care. It's requested once, in-rooms, and you can withdraw it at any time.
Is the pap smear covered?
Yes, one pap smear every three years from the Screening & Prevention Benefit (annually for high-risk members), procedure in-rooms with lab analysis. You can also collect a cervical self-sampling kit from us and sample privately at home.
Does LA Health cover prostate screening?
Yes, one PSA test per year, sampled in-rooms and analysed by the lab.
Are HIV tests covered?
Yes, HIV screening tests (Rapid, ELISA, Western blot) are unlimited under the 2026 Screening & Prevention Benefit. Ongoing HIV management is available with Dr Chellan, who holds a Diploma in HIV Management (CMSA).
Can I get my flu vaccine at NeoHealth?
If you're 65+ or registered for a listed chronic condition, yes, one flu vaccine per year in-rooms. Otherwise your annual pharmacy Health Check can be swapped for a flu vaccine at a network pharmacy.
Which chronic conditions does LA Health cover beyond the PMB list?
From 2026, the Additional Diseases List on LA Comprehensive and LA Core adds Risk-funded cover for generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, menopause, endometriosis, hyperthyroidism, acne, allergic rhinitis, dermatitis and Sjogren's disease. The new LA Engage option carries its own list, including depression, ADHD, migraine and reflux (GORD). Endometriosis, menopause and hyperthyroidism also unlock additional medicine cover through a Chronic Illness Benefit application, which we complete with you in-rooms.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Your LA Health membership card, your ID, your current medication list, and be ready to sign the quick HealthID consent so we can see your benefits.
