Bonitas FP Network GP, all 2026 options

Bonitas GP in George, All 2026 Options, Billed Directly

NeoHealth (Drs Chellan & Lakay Inc, practice number 1221566) welcomes Bonitas members at our George Central practice, on every 2026 option, from BonComprehensive and BonClassic to BonStart, BonCap and the new BonCore. We're on the Bonitas Family Practitioner Network, which exists specifically to protect you from unexpected co-payments: at a network GP, your consultation bills at the agreed rate, in real time.

A note on the admin change you may have heard about: Bonitas moved administrators in 2026, most options now run on Momentum Health Administrators' systems, while BonCap and BonCore are run by Private Health Administrators (PHA). Nothing changes for you at our rooms: same card, same benefits, same direct billing, we handle the claim whichever system it routes through.

Benefits verified against Bonitas 2026 guides: 14 August 2026

How billing works at NeoHealth

  1. Specialist referral: required from your FP on network options, without it the claim is not covered. Exceptions on most options include maternity, two gynaecologist visits per year for women, paediatrician visits for children under two, oncologists, haematologists, ophthalmologists and one urologist visit per year for men; on BonStart and BonStart Plus only maternity and the annual urologist visit are exempt. We arrange the referral in-rooms and refer within the Bonitas Specialist Network where possible.
  2. Specialist benefit on BonStart: 1 family consultation per year up to R1,370 (R275 co-pay); BonStart Plus: 2 consultations up to R2,480 (R130 co-pay).
  3. Acute medicine: Bonitas Pharmacy Network is the DSP, 20% co-payment at a non-network pharmacy (40% on BonStart/BonStart Plus, formulary-listed medicine only).
  4. Chronic medicine: your option's designated pharmacy, Bonitas Pharmacy Network or Pharmacy Direct, your choice (Standard), Bonitas Pharmacy Network only (BonComprehensive, BonClassic, BonComplete), Pharmacy Direct only (BonEssential, BonEssential Select, BonFit, BonSave, Hospital Standard, Standard Select, BonStart, BonStart Plus) or Marara Courier Pharmacy (BonPrime, Primary, BonCap, BonCore); 30% co-payment outside the DSP. HIV medicine funded after HIV/AIDS Programme registration, we register you in-rooms.
  5. Hospital admissions: pre-authorisation mandatory on all options, no payment without it except PMB emergencies. Non-network co-payments: 30% on most options; R12,680 on BonStart/BonStart Plus. BonCap and BonCore hospital rules run via PHA, we confirm current co-payments at reception.

Bonitas options we consult

OptionHow your GP benefit works
Traditional & savings (BonComprehensive, BonClassic, BonComplete, BonSave, Standard, Hospital Standard)Day-to-day GP visits funded per your option's benefit/savings rules, claimed at network rates in real time.
Select & network options (Standard Select, BonEssential, BonEssential Select, BonFit, Primary)Network GP rules apply. Standard Select members must nominate 2 GPs per beneficiary, nominate Drs Chellan & Lakay (PN 1221566).
BonPrimeAlmost all out-of-hospital care, including GP and specialist visits, is paid from your savings account rather than a fixed network rate. If savings run out, the family still gets one GP consultation paid at the Bonitas rate. Covers 28 chronic conditions (27 PMB plus depression) via Marara Pharmacy.
BonStart / BonStart PlusUnlimited network FP consultations: R130 co-pay (BonStart) / R75 (BonStart Plus) per visit. Authorisation after the 6th (BonStart) / 10th (BonStart Plus) visit. 2 non-network emergency visits per family per year.
BonCap (PHA-administered)Unlimited network GP visits, no co-payment. Non-network: 1 visit per beneficiary or 2 per family (R420 cap, 30% co-payment). Authorisation from the 8th visit.
BonCore (new for 2026, PHA-administered)Students & young adults: day-to-day GP cover at network GPs, chronic cover for 28 conditions (incl. depression), preventative screenings, R1,000 family Benefit Booster.

Nominate NeoHealth as your Bonitas GP

  1. Standard Select families: nominate two GPs per beneficiary (this is required, not optional), most nominate Dr Chellan and Dr Lakay together.
  2. Nominate via the Bonitas app, call 0860 002 108, or email membermaint@bonitas.co.za, quote practice number 1221566.

Nomination applies to Standard Select. Standard Select still allows 2 non-nominated network GP visits per family per year, but a non-network GP is PMB-only beyond that. Standard (without "Select") has no nomination requirement at all. Both Standard and Standard Select also carry an additional benefit of 2 network GP consultations per family, separate from and on top of the main day-to-day limit. BonCap members simply use network GPs, no nomination needed.

Benefits your Bonitas contributions already pay for

Your screening unlocks more cover, the Bonitas Benefit Booster

Bonitas is one of the few schemes where completing your annual wellness screening activates extra day-to-day cover (the Benefit Booster: R1,000 per family on BonCore). Most members never claim it.

Living with back or neck pain?

Bonitas runs a Back and Neck Programme (through DBC) on all options except BonCap, BonCore, BonStart and BonStart Plus, a structured, evidence-based conservative treatment programme. Ask us at your next visit and we'll assess whether you qualify and arrange enrolment.

On BonComprehensive, BonClassic, BonComplete, Standard and Standard Select, spinal surgery is only funded after conservative-programme assessment, another reason to start here.

Bonitas questions, answered

Do you accept all Bonitas options?

Yes, every 2026 option, billed directly at network rates: BonComprehensive, BonClassic, BonComplete, BonSave, Standard and Hospital Standard; Standard Select, BonEssential, BonEssential Select, BonFit, Primary and BonPrime; BonStart and BonStart Plus; BonCap; and the new BonCore.

What do BonStart members pay at NeoHealth?

R130 per visit on BonStart, R75 on BonStart Plus, unlimited network FP consultations. Authorisation is needed after your 6th visit (BonStart) or 10th visit (BonStart Plus); we arrange it.

I'm on BonCap, do I pay anything to see you?

No, unlimited network GP visits with no co-payment. Authorisation applies from your 8th visit, which we obtain. Keep your visits in-network: a non-network GP visit is capped at R420 with a 30% co-payment.

What is BonCore?

Bonitas's new 2026 option for students and young adults, hospital cover plus day-to-day GP visits at network GPs (like us), chronic cover for 28 conditions including depression, preventative screenings, and a R1,000 family Benefit Booster.

Do I need a referral to see a specialist?

Yes, on Bonitas network options the FP referral is required or the claim isn't covered. Most options allow exceptions, including maternity, two gynaecologist visits per year for women, paediatrician visits for children under two, oncologists, ophthalmologists and one urologist visit per year for men; on BonStart and BonStart Plus only maternity and the annual urologist visit are exempt. We arrange your referral in-rooms and refer within the Bonitas Specialist Network where possible.

Did the Bonitas administrator change affect me?

Operationally, no. Most options moved to Momentum Health Administrators in June 2026; BonCap and BonCore are run by PHA. Your benefits, your card and our direct billing continue unchanged.

How do I activate my Benefit Booster?

Complete your annual wellness screening, blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, BMI and waist measurement, in our rooms. The screening activates the extra day-to-day cover on options that carry the Benefit Booster.

Where do I get chronic medicine?

Via your option's designated pharmacy: the Bonitas Pharmacy Network or Pharmacy Direct, your choice, on Standard; the Bonitas Pharmacy Network on BonComprehensive, BonClassic and BonComplete; Pharmacy Direct on BonEssential, BonEssential Select, BonFit, BonSave, Hospital Standard, Standard Select, BonStart and BonStart Plus; Marara Courier Pharmacy on BonPrime, Primary, BonCap and BonCore. Using a non-designated pharmacy costs a 30% co-payment. We register your chronic conditions and route the scripts. Standard and Standard Select cover 45 chronic conditions (the 27 PMB conditions plus 18 more) up to R13,030 per beneficiary and R26,150 per family; BonPrime and BonStart/BonStart Plus cover 28 conditions (the 27 PMB conditions plus depression).

What should I bring to my first visit?

Your Bonitas membership card (or the app), your ID, current medication, and, on Standard Select, your GP nomination confirmation.
